Tallis and Gluck

Tallis’ epic Spem in alium begins the concert - a true cathedral of beauty, elegance, and polyphonic genius. Following this, we move on to Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice with a cast that includes mezzo-soprano Catherine Carby who has sung the role of Orfeo at English National Opera. This is an opera that is both highly dramatic and full of musical gems, no more so than Orfeo’s stunning aria 'Che faro senza Euridice’.
